Founded in 1966 by legendary political consultant Joe Cerrell, Cerrell Associates is ranked as one of the nation’s largest independent public relations firms, providing its diverse client base with a full range of public affairs, political consulting, issues management, land-use and advocacy services. Cerrell Associates works with many of the country’s most high-profile corporate, non-profit, political, environmental and trade associations.
- Cerrell Associates was founded in 1966 by Joe & Lee Cerrell
- Currently, there are 22 people on staff
- Hal was born and raised in Springfield, MA, and graduated from UMass Amherst with an undergraduate degree and a masters degree in communications
- He started his career in radio, and moved to California in 1972
- Hal met Joe Cerrell when Hal was a radio host in California, and eventually went to work for him in 1977
- Hal has been with the company ever since, and now owns it
- Cerrell Associates is a full service firm - besides lobbying, they handle communications and stakeholder outreach

Cerrell Associates offers internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in public policy and public relations. They are looking for candidates with communications, public and media relations, political and/or government work experience.
