Today we sit down with Stephen Martinko, Government Affairs Counsel at K&L Gates.

K&L Gates is a fully integrated global law firm with lawyers located across five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.

  • Stephen earned his B.A. in History/Public Policy from Brown University
  • While attending Brown, Stephen interned for Ohio Senator George Voinovich
  • Following graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he landed his first paid job on the Hill working for Congressman Jim Gibbons
  • Stephen continued working on the Hill for Congressman John Porter, and then moved on to the House Republican Conference
  • After a few years, Stephen took a position with Pennsylvania Congressman Bill Shuster, and eventually served as his Chief of Staff
  • Following his time with Rep. Shuster, Stephen moved to Pittsburgh and became the Executive Director of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission
  • Stephen eventually moved back to D.C. and took a job with K&L Gates, where he continues to work today.
